Further Studies are additional IEB subjects that learners take alongside their normal school subjects. They go beyond the standard school syllabus to prepare learners for university-level work, and they strengthen a university application.
Further Studies runs from Grade 10 to Grade 12 as a three-year programme. Fees are the same in each of those years.
Everything is online, and there are two ways to work through it. Online live lessons run weekly, so learners can ask questions as they would in a classroom, and every live lesson is recorded and made available afterwards. Self-study video lessons are studio-produced and let learners set their own timetable against weekly completion goals, with an online coach for support.
No. The academic calendar is built to fit both three-term and four-term schools, and lessons are never scheduled during school holidays.
Learners are assessed every term — a multiple-choice test in the first term, then written, invigilated examinations. In Grade 12 every assessment is written and invigilated, building up to the final exam, which is set and certified by the IEB. Learners also receive an end-of-year completion certificate.
Places are offered by application. Once an application is successful, our team will be in touch to confirm the details and arrange payment, which can be made upfront or spread over six months.
Yes. Schools across South Africa already run Further Studies through Advantage Learn, and school packages are available, including bespoke arrangements. Get in touch and we'll put together something that fits your school.
